The Scotch Purse & Puzzle Pants (Turning back the Clock)

Updated: 6 days ago

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, secret opening puzzles were all the rage, often found in five-and-dime stores. These cleverly designed puzzles were meant to entertain and confound, challenging players to extract objects like marbles or rings.

Among these treasures was "The Scotch Purse," a coin purse tightly sewn shut, where the challenge was to add or remove coins without damaging it. I acquired one back in the early 1970s as a teenager, and It had become a cherished possession until, after 35 years of use, it finally succumbed to wear and tear.

Disappointed by its absence from the market and the difficulty of replicating it, we embarked on a quest to resurrect "The Scotch Purse." In our pursuit, we stumbled upon another gem from the past: "Puzzle Pants," a similar item to the scotch purse, which had not been seen in nearly a century.

Intrigued, we sought out an original pair of puzzle pants, which was no easy task, it was like chopping down a redwood with a pocket knife... Finally obtaining one, we spared no effort in preserving both Puzzle Pants and The Scotch Purse, resurrecting them for a new generation of enthusiasts.

For a limited time, these nostalgic treasures are exclusively available at, offering a glimpse into a bygone era of playful enchantment.
